Government forces successfully thwarted an attempted infiltration by Houthi militias towards their positions in the eastern front of Taiz city on Tuesday morning, capturing several members of the attacking group, according to a military source. The source stated that forces from the 22nd Mechanized Brigade confronted the infiltration attempt, which was carried out by Houthi militias in the early hours of the morning towards government positions in the Al-Kareifat area. Intense clashes ensued, with both sides employing various types of weaponry. The government forces managed to foil the attack and capture several Houthi elements involved in the infiltration attempt, while the remaining attackers were compelled to withdraw from the area. Following the failed infiltration, the Houthi militia resorted to intensive artillery shelling targeting government positions and adjacent areas, likely as a cover for their retreating elements and to prevent pursuit. However, government forces maintained their positions and control in the area. Concurrently with the ground confrontations, the Houthi militia intensified the flight of its drones over the eastern front of Taiz city. Sources indicated these operations included reconnaissance and attempts at launching attacks, before government forces' anti-aircraft defenses engaged and forced them to leave the airspace. This infiltration attempt occurs amidst escalating military movements by the Houthi militia across several fronts in Taiz, with intermittent clashes and reciprocal shelling continuing, maintaining the eastern front of the city in a state of heightened military readiness. |
