Human Rights Office Denounces Houthi Forced Displacement in Hodeidah

The Human Rights Office in Hodeidah Governorate has strongly condemned the forced displacement of civilians by Houthi militias in villages south of Al-Jarrahi city and Jabal Ras district, citing grave violations under duress.

The office stated in a release that testimonies confirm dozens of families have been compelled to flee their homes, with recent arrivals of displaced families in the Hays district underscoring the expanding scope of forced displacement and the resulting humanitarian suffering and violations of civilian rights.

Verified information indicates the evacuation of homes and villages, with some being converted into military sites and barracks, thereby endangering the lives and property of residents.

The office called for an immediate cessation of these practices, respect for the sanctity of civilian areas and property, and an independent, transparent investigation into the incidents of displacement and the seizure of civilian homes for military purposes, demanding accountability for those responsible.

Furthermore, it urged the United Nations and humanitarian and human rights organizations to document these violations, exert pressure to protect civilians, and provide urgent assistance, particularly in food, water, shelter, and healthcare, to displaced families.
