US Central Command Launches New Strikes Against Iranian Targets

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday the commencement of a new wave of military strikes targeting Iranian objectives, marking the sixth consecutive night of operations. The objective of these attacks is to degrade Iran's military capabilities and diminish its capacity to threaten international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM stated in a release that U.S. forces began executing a fresh series of strikes at 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Thursday. This followed the conclusion of a previous wave that commenced Wednesday evening and concluded at 9:00 PM EST. The recent strikes reportedly targeted military command centers, air defense sites, missile systems, drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities across multiple locations within Iran, including the city of Bandar Abbas, utilizing precision-guided munitions.

The command elaborated that the military operations are intended to "continue to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten innocent mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz," amid escalating regional tensions. It was also noted that U.S. forces conducted an earlier wave of strikes on Thursday morning, lasting approximately 90 minutes, which targeted coastal defense sites and cruise missile platforms on Greater Tunb Island.

CENTCOM affirmed that the U.S. military is continuing these operations "under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief," describing the actions as holding Iran accountable for its threats to navigation and regional security. These strikes are part of an ongoing military escalation between the United States and Iran, raising international concerns about the potential expansion of the conflict and its impact on maritime security and energy supplies in the Gulf region.
