Ibb Hospital Morgue Malfunction Causes Foul Odors, Residents Complain

Residents in the city of Ibb have lodged formal complaints regarding severe foul odors emanating from the malfunctioning morgue at Al-Thawra General Hospital. The issue is reportedly exacerbated by a significant backlog of bodies within the facility.

The unpleasant smells, originating from the morgue located within the provincial capital's hospital, have been progressively worsening and are now affecting adjacent residential areas. Residents have indicated that the odors are particularly noticeable in homes situated north of the hospital, near the Eid prayer ground and Aisha Mosque, due to their proximity to the morgue.

According to local accounts, the problem has persisted since the beginning of last week. Residents accuse the hospital administration of negligence and a failure to address the technical faults, which they believe has intensified the situation and raised public health and environmental concerns.

The affected population is urgently calling for the hospital administration to expedite the maintenance, repair, and operational restoration of the morgue to halt the emission of odors. Furthermore, they have appealed to the Public Prosecution to issue an immediate directive for the burial of unidentified and decomposed bodies, aiming to mitigate the recurring olfactory impact on the lives of the residents.
