Houthi Militia Storms Wedding Party, Abducts Bride's Father in Amran

Houthi militia elements stormed a women's wedding celebration in the Rida district of Amran province on Saturday evening, abducting the bride's father and sparking widespread condemnation.

Local sources reported that a Houthi military campaign, led by commander Abu Abdulhamid Al-Sarrari, who is appointed by the group as deputy security director of Rida, raided the home of citizen Abdullah bin Hussein Al-Fatr in Al-Fatr village during his daughter's wedding ceremony.

According to the sources, the Houthi gunmen fired shots in the air before storming the women's tent, causing panic among attendees. They expelled the performer and forcibly halted the wedding proceedings, citing alleged violations of the group's restrictions on social events.

Sources confirmed that militia elements physically assaulted the bride's father and several of his daughters before abducting him and taking him to the Rida security administration. This incident represents a flagrant violation of the sanctity of homes and the privacy of women, causing widespread fear among residents.

This event follows a similar assault in the Al-Ashmur area of the same province just one day prior, targeting popular artist Yahya Sa'sa'a, who was assaulted and robbed by Houthi gunmen while returning from a social event.

A state of popular anger prevails among the people of Amran province, who view these practices as a systematic targeting of Yemeni traditions and values, and an attempt to forcibly impose extremist restrictions and ideologies. This adds to a growing record of violations against civilians in areas under the militia's control.
