Weapons Stolen from Houthi Security Post in Ibb, Sparking Public Ridicule

A security headquarters belonging to the Houthi militia in Yemen's Ibb Governorate was reportedly subjected to a theft operation involving weapons, an incident that underscores the deepening security chaos within areas controlled by the militia.

Local sources indicated that the Houthi-affiliated Security Directorate in the Dhi Al-Sufal district, based in the town of Al-Qa'idah south of Ibb city, was infiltrated by unknown assailants in recent days.

The sources further detailed that a number of rifles belonging to the Security Directorate disappeared from inside the facility. They noted that the militia has registered the incident as being against unknown persons and initiated a perfunctory investigation into the matter.

These sources did not rule out the possibility of involvement by militia leaders or elements themselves, citing the widespread phenomenon of arms trafficking and corruption within the security apparatus managed by the group.

The incident provoked widespread derision among citizens and social media activists, who view the theft of weaponry directly from a security headquarters as further evidence of the militia’s failure to impose order, even within its own installations, let alone protect the populace in its controlled territories.

Ibb Governorate, under Houthi control for several years, continues to experience escalating security disintegration, marked by recurring incidents of murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery, amidst accusations that the militia actively fuels the disorder and shields its own implicated members.
