Saudi Arabia Condemns Attack on U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Affirms Right to Retaliation

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued a stern condemnation of the assault targeting the United States Embassy building in the capital, Riyadh, describing the act as a "cowardly, unjustified, and heinous" violation of established international norms and laws.

In an official statement, the Kingdom emphasized that targeting diplomatic missions constitutes a direct contravention of international legal conventions, notably the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, both of which mandate full immunity for diplomatic premises and personnel, even during periods of armed conflict.

The statement stressed that the recurrence of this blatant Iranian behavior—despite Riyadh's prior confirmation that it would not permit its airspace or territory to be utilized for hostile actions against any party—risks escalating regional tensions and jeopardizing overall security and stability.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its inherent right to implement all necessary measures and procedures required to safeguard its security, territorial integrity, its citizens, residents, and vital interests, reserving the option to respond to any aggression in accordance with international charters and conventions.
