Yemeni military forces successfully repelled an infiltration attempt by Houthi militants targeting army positions north of the Al-Dhale governorate in central Yemen. Citing a military source, the September Net website reported on Friday, February 27, 2026, that Houthi elements attempted to advance toward army positions stationed in the village of Al-Rifqa, west of the Maris district, but the military thwarted the incursion. The source indicated that the confrontation resulted in casualties, with several Houthi fighters killed and wounded. The remaining militants were forced to retreat, while another group of infiltrators became besieged within the valley. The military source further clarified that the Houthi militia was only able to extract its besieged elements late Thursday afternoon under heavy covering fire, leaving behind the bodies of their dead and several wounded personnel abandoned on the battlefield. |
