"Ain Organization" Marks Second Anniversary, Demands Justice for Rada'a Crater Massacre Victims

Marking the second anniversary of the horrific incident in the "Al-Hofra" neighborhood of Rada'a, Al-Bayda Governorate, the Ain Organization for Human Rights has renewed its urgent demands for a transparent and independent investigation into the massacre amid ongoing violations and the persistent denial of justice for the victims.

The organization issued a statement asserting that the crime, perpetrated by the Houthi group through the bombing of civilian homes, resulted in the deaths of dozens of innocent people, predominantly women and children. This act constituted a grave violation of international humanitarian law and fundamental human rights principles, leaving behind profound psychological and humanitarian scars that continue to manifest today.

The statement detailed that armed factions, on the ninth day of Ramadan last year, rigged and detonated the homes of the "Al-Zailai" family and a building belonging to the "Al-Naqous" family in a densely populated residential area. This was executed without warning to the resident families, leading to the collapse of adjacent homes onto their occupants. Notably, the family of citizen Mohammed Saad Al-Yareemi lost nine members in the incident.

The organization further highlighted that the abuses extended beyond the bombing, encompassing arbitrary detentions of approximately twenty young men from the neighborhood over the past six months. Furthermore, the killing of citizen Hassan Al-Halimi and the subsequent execution of his son, Abdullah, while demanding accountability for the father's death, necessitate a serious inquiry to uncover the truth and ensure redress.

The statement expressed deep regret that, instead of bringing the principal perpetrators to trial, documented evidence indicates their release. This progression deepens the climate of impunity and undermines opportunities for victim compensation. The organization called upon the international community and relevant United Nations mechanisms to exert pressure for the immediate release of all detainees and to guarantee that such crimes, which are subject to universal jurisdiction, are never repeated.
