A man in his thirties committed suicide by hanging in the Al-Odin district of Ibb Governorate, central Yemen, reportedly due to severe economic and living conditions.

Local sources confirmed that residents discovered the body of the 30-year-old man, identified by the initial "M," hanged in a room within his home in the Al-Ramadi village of Al-Odin district.

According to the source, the deceased had separated from his wife several months prior and was the father of three children. It is speculated that the man suffered from acute depression stemming from isolation and the compounding pressures of difficult living circumstances and accumulating debt.

Statistics indicate a rising trend in suicide cases across the governorate, which has seen similar incidents in recent years, reflecting the pervasive hardship affecting residents and contributing to widespread psychological and neurological distress.

The Al-Odin district, and Ibb Governorate generally, have witnessed numerous confirmed suicides and attempted suicides against the backdrop of dire living standards exacerbated by the conflict that began nearly 11 years ago. These incidents coincide with hundreds of homicides reported in the security-compromised governorate, which remains under the control of Houthi authorities.
