A prominent merchant was fatally shot by an armed assailant on Thursday evening in a central district of Taiz, a city currently under the control of security and military forces affiliated with the Islah party.

According to a local source, the gunman opened fire on the grain trader, identified as Ahmed Ismail, while he was at his place of business accompanied by his son within the crowded Al-Bab Al-Kabeer popular market.
