Ibb Bomb Blast Injures Sanitation Worker; Houthi Forces Detain Shooting Victims

A sanitation worker sustained injuries early Tuesday morning from a hand grenade explosion on Taiz Street in the city of Ibb, central Yemen.

Local sources reported that the explosive device, which was reportedly concealed within refuse, detonated in the pre-dawn hours while the unidentified worker was collecting waste near the Old Tower Hotel on Taiz Street. The worker suffered varying degrees of injury and was subsequently transported to a hospital for urgent medical treatment.

In a related incident within the same city, local sources indicated that Houthi militia forces detained several individuals wounded during an exchange of gunfire inside a local Qat market. Unidentified gunmen exchanged fire within the Al-Wehda Qat Market on Taiz Street, resulting in multiple casualties before the gunmen departed the scene.

Militia elements later moved to detain the injured parties in the southern section of the city. These detentions are reportedly accompanied by accusations that the Houthi forces are attempting to coerce the victims into signing waivers in exchange for their release.

The Ibb Governorate, which remains under Houthi control, continues to experience escalating security chaos and widespread violations against civilians, characterized by recurrent incidents of violence and general lawlessness.
