Egypt Urges UN Security Council to Halt Gaza Violations, Block West Bank Annexation

Egypt's Foreign Minister, addressing the UN Security Council session on Palestine, stressed the imperative for an immediate cessation of all violations to the Gaza ceasefire agreement and demanded full adherence to its terms.

The Minister emphasized the critical need to enable members of the Palestinian National Committee for Gaza Management to enter the Strip and assume responsibility for overseeing its daily affairs across all regions during the transitional phase, a step necessary to restore institutional and service stability.

Furthermore, he called for the swift formation and deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and guarantee the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into the enclave, underscoring that the severe humanitarian situation necessitates urgent and effective measures.

The Foreign Minister also demanded that Israel permit the entry of aid and refrain from obstructing the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), given its vital role in providing essential services to Palestinian refugees.

He strongly condemned Israeli decisions aimed at entrenching settlements in the occupied West Bank, demanding an immediate halt to any annexation of Palestinian territories. He further insisted that such actions must not undermine the international consensus, including the vision articulated by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which rejects the annexation or occupation of any land in the West Bank or Gaza Strip.

The Minister also called upon Israel to cease all aggressions against Lebanon and Syria, asserting that regional stability depends on respecting state sovereignty and adhering to international law. These Egyptian positions are situated within a broader context of escalating Arab and international efforts within the Security Council to solidify the Gaza ceasefire, prevent the imposition of new facts on the ground in the West Bank, and advance a political track that secures the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
