Tribal Youth Killed in Al Jawf Amid Escalating Houthi-Fueled Clashes

A young man from the Dhu Hussein tribes was killed by gunfire from gunmen affiliated with the Houthi militia in Al Jawf province, signaling a marked escalation in tribal disputes reportedly fueled by militia leadership.

Local sources confirmed the death of Hamza Yahya Saqra, a member of the Dhu Hussein tribes, who was shot by armed men belonging to the Al Jahwan family—a lineage family from which several Houthi supervisors originate. This incident occurs amid intense fighting between the two factions that has persisted for three days, involving various types of weaponry, with direct military support reportedly provided by the Houthi militia to the Al Jahwan faction.

According to the sources, the confrontations stem from a long-standing dispute over the ownership of agricultural lands and water wells in the Al Damanah area of the Yitmah district. Sources indicated that the absence of effective judicial resolutions, coupled with the militia's deliberate exacerbation of the conflict instead of mediation, has severely worsened the situation.

Tribal groups accuse Houthi leaders of arming the Al Jahwan lineage and exploiting the land issue to target the Al Saqra family and other tribes. Furthermore, it is alleged that fighters wearing civilian clothing are being deployed to the field to tip the balance in favor of the militia's loyalists.

Observers contend that the militia is employing a strategy of "igniting vendettas" to weaken the tribal fabric and subordinate it to its agenda, a dynamic that threatens to trigger a comprehensive explosion difficult to contain.
